Peep S'mores - The Perfect Easter Treat

Easter is only a few days away and Peeps are lining grocery store isles patiently waiting to be taken home and placed into children's Easter baskets. But if you are looking for a fun way to make your Peeps extra special try this Peep S'more recipe! The kids will go crazy over them...okay and maybe moms too.

Ingredients:
-Peeps
-Graham Crackers (broken in half)
-Chocolate Eggs or Chocolate Peanut Butter Eggs

Recipe:
1. Preheat oven or toaster oven to 350°F.
2. Place a chocolate egg onto a graham cracker half.
3. Top the egg with a Peep.
4. Place your Peep S'mores onto a baking sheet and pop them in the oven for 2-3 minutes. Keep a close eye on them so the Peeps don't burn. *You can also use a microwave.
5. Once the chocolate and Peeps are melted, take them out of the oven and squish them with another graham cracker half.

*Note: In the photos I had put the graham cracker on before placing in the oven, but it works better if you do it after the chocolate and Peeps are melted.

Yellow Chirping Chicks and Feathered Hen Egg Holders

Easter is only a month away so last week we decided to get a jump on our Easter crafting. We made two chicken crafts using egg carton. These were super simple and tons of fun.

Egg Carton Chirping Chicks

These little yellow chicks are so much fun to make and make a great candy holder!

Materials:

-Egg carton cups

-Yellow paint

-Orange and yellow construction paper or craft foam

-Feathers

-Wiggly eyes

-Glue

-Scissors

-Tape

-Paintbrush

What to do:

1. Cut two cups from an egg carton and trim them to smooth out the tops.

2. Paint the cups yellow and let them dry.

3. Tape the two cups together on the inside using a piece of tape. See photo above.

4. Cut a beak and feet out of the construction paper or craft foam and glue onto the chick.

5. Glue on wiggly eyes.

6. Glue on feathers for the wings.

7. Feed your chirping chick a tasty treat (jellybeans, etc). 

Egg Carton Hen Egg Holders

These little hens are so adorable, easy to make and can hold safely hold your decorated Easter eggs or plastic eggs.

Materials:

-Egg cartons

-Wiggle eyes

-Yellow and red craft foam

-Feathers

-Paint (white, brown)

-Glue

-Scissors

-Paintbrush

-Decorated Easter egg or plastic egg

What to do:

1. Cut the egg cartons, the edges of egg carton work best. Shape the body with scissors to round out rough edges. See photo above for cutting details. 

2. If you wish paint your hen white, brown etc. We opted to keep ours natural.

3. Cut a beak and waddle out of craft foam and glue them onto the hen.

4. Glue on the wiggle eyes.

5. For the wings, tail and crest glue feathers onto the sides and back of the hen.

6. Place a decorated Easter egg or plastic egg into your feathered hen egg holder!

I don't know about the weather in your neck of the woods, but here in GA it has been cold, windy, rainy and just down right dreary. Spring is supposed to be on its way, but sadly we haven't seen any signs of it yet. We received RoseArts newest product Surprise Inside Sidewalk Chalk last week but due to the weather we haven't been able to use them. Well today the sun peaked out and we snuck out!!! The kids were very happy to break open the package and begin decorating our sidewalk. 

We drew pictures of Spring things and even wrote a plead for Spring to come! We also had some learning fun and practiced math, spelling and handwriting. The chalk kept the kids busy for an hour before I told them it was time to go in. They would have probably stayed out there until the chalk ran out.

We received the flower theme set which included one large white piece (the center of the flower) and 6 smaller pieces (the petals of the flower). The colors included are green, orange, pink, blue, yellow and purple. The chalks are easy to draw with and show up very bright and vibrate on the sidewalk. Gwyn had the honor of breaking open the white piece of chalk to discover the special surprise....which was a tiny purple butterfly. And it just so happened she was busy drawing a beautiful butterfly when she broke it open so she was very excited. 

We had a blast and hope Spring will listen and arrive soon. This NEW chalk product by RoseArt received 5 Jellybeans (stars) from the kids!

Celebrating Easter and National Library Month With Rose Art

Did you know that March is National Craft Month? I'll admit I didn't and our family is big into arts and crafts. Each week this month we shared a craft project how to using Rose Art products. If you missed them you can click here to view the past craft posts. Sadly this is the last week for National Craft Month...but that doesn't mean you need to stop crafting. We do at least 3 craft projects a week. It's a great way to build your kids imagination, creativity and self confidence. Crafting is also a great educational tool and helps to build motor and thinking skills. Thanks to everyone who has been linking up and sharing your wonderful craft projects.

This week we decided to share two crafts. One is a fun and easy Easter craft and the other is a pencil holder which we will be giving to the librarians at our local library next month for National Library Week which is in April 8th-11th.

Materials we used for pencil holder craft:
-Paper Plate
-Scrapbook or Construction Paper
-Foam Stickers (we used Easter ones)
-Pom Poms
-Rose Art Glitter Magic Markers
-Rose Art Stampers
-Rose Art Twist Up Crayons
-White School Glue

Instructions:
1.) Cut semi circle out of the center of the paper plate. Then glue this piece onto the back of the paper plate to form a small pocket to hold the Easter eggs.

2.) Cut out several eggs from scrapbook or construction paper. Then have the kids decorate their baskets and eggs. We used pom poms, foam stickers, twist up crayons, stampers and the kids favorite glitter magic markers. They absolutely love the glitter magic markers from Rose Art and truth be told so do I. Stick the eggs into the pouch after they are decorated.

3.) Told you it was quick, easy and fun. Wash up and show off your finished project.

Remember I told you I love to use recyclables for our crafts? Well this project is so easy and uses an empty tin can. These make great gifts for teachers, librarians, grandma, friends, etc. 

Materials we used for pencil holder craft:
-Tin Can
-Scrapbook or Construction Paper
-Ribbon
-Foam Stickers
-Pom Poms
-Rose Art Glitter Magic Markers
-White School Glue
-Low Temp Hot Glue Gun

Instructions:
1.) Cut a piece of paper to fit around the tin can you chose. Wrap the paper around the can and use hot glue to glue the two ends together at the back of the can.

2.) Decorate your covered can using ribbon, pom poms, foam stickers, markers etc. Gwyn chose to make a little tag for hers that says, "I love the library." You can also find a nice quote or saying to write or print to add to the can.

3.) Add some pens, pencils, candy, post its notes, etc to the pencil holder. Wash up and give your finished project to someone as a gift.
