Christy Ziglar has yet again published a fabulous children's book. Must-Have Marvin is the second book in the Shine Bright Kids series. This amazing book series teaches children practical live skills, character traits and the importance of making good choices. Christy is a fellow Atlantan so I am always happy to share about her amazing books on my blog, maybe one day we will get to meet her so she can sign them for us. Do you recognize the last name? Christy is also the niece of legendary motivator Zig Ziglar.

A moms review:I am a huge fan of Ideal's Children's Books. We have reviewed several of their books in the past including the first book in the series Can't Wait Willow and the second book in the series Must Have Marvin.

Just like the other two books Whatever Wanda is a beautifully illustrated book. The hardback book is 32 pages and 10 x 10. The book is recommended for children ages 4-8 years, but even my 9 year old loved it and benefited from the book. Whatever Wanda teaches children the importance of having a good attitude and since attitudes are something that have been getting a little bad in our home lately (gotta love hormone surges) it was just what we needed.

It is time for the big Rubber Duck Days Festival and everyone is really excited to participate in the fun festivities...everyone that is except for Wanda. Wanda needs a serious attitude adjustments. She doesn't want to accompany her family to the festival, wear the silly matching outfit or even participate in any of the events...despite her friends encouraging her. Can you guess who two of her friends were...Willow and Marvin of course. My children immediately picked out the two familiar characters. Eventually Wanda receives some helpful advice from Waddles and learns that:

'Sometimes you have to believe something will be great before it actually is. Being positive is a choice that makes everything better, not to mention, a whole lot more fun!'

Attitudes have been going a little crazy around our home lately so this book was the perfect way to discuss the importance of being positive. We were also able to discuss topics such as taking responsibility, solving problems, having a positive attitude, the importance of friendship, and happiness.

Ziggy Star
Throughout the book there is an adorable little star, named Ziggy, that children can search for on each page. When Marvin makes good choices the star is bright and happy but when she makes bad choices the star is dim and deflated. This was an excellent way to discuss feelings and choices with my children.
