A moms review:
As the title suggests this book is BIG, it's 15 feet long!!!! And it is loaded with fabulous information about the Earth! Everything from the Earth's atmosphere to the Earth's core is covered in these 21 brightly colored panels. Each panel is 9 x 141/4.
You can fold out the panels and use them on the floor or you can do what we did which is hang the panels on the wall...well the first 10 anyway which include all the information above the Earth's surface. Things like the Earth's atmosphere, greenhouse gases, clouds, mountains, volcanoes, precipitation. water cycles, caves and more are covered.
The bottom panels (which start at your baseboard and continue on the floor) take your family on a journey below the Earth's surface. Things like caves, ocean zones, oil, dirt, rocks and more are covered. For these panels you will start at the Intertidal Zone (0 ft the surface) and continue your journey below the Earth all the way to the Hadalpelagic Zone (35,813 ft deep ocean trenches).
Many questions like, "Where do you find the ozone layer?, Where does lava come from?" as well as many others will be answered in this book.
We really enjoyed using this book for our science studies. We recently learned all about weather and sea mammals and took a field trip to Ruby Falls which is a cave in TN, so this book was a great way to reinforce what we had learned about over the last few months. Volcanoes is the next topic on my son's list so I know we will be using this book next month.
There is a great teachers guide available for this book which you can either purchase from the NLP website or download for FREE.
This book is great for children of all ages (my 5 and 7 yr old loved it) and adults too. The publisher's recommended ages are 7-12.
