O is for Organizing

O is the letter this week for the ABC's of homeschooling meme. O is for Organizing!

The month of July has been spent organizing and getting ready for homeschool. I have been gathering supplies, books, workbooks, unit studies/lapbooks and internet resources. I have also been trying to figure out what planner to use and after much thought I finally decided I am going to use a few free planning pages I found online and also create some of my own.  The kids will be utilizing a workbox system (or in our case a filing cabinet system due to limited space) to organize their daily lessons and it is almost set up and ready to go.

For the next two weeks I am going to focus on our getting our homeschool/family planner finished. I am also attending the South East Homeschool expo which will be on the 28th here in GA which will be a great kickoff to our school year.

Well here are some pictures of the organizing I did (I still have more to do and more pictures will be coming soon).
Our bookcase with supplies, books, puzzles, etc. Still need to make labels.
Our workbox filing cabinet and chore chart. Still need to fill in chore chart.
Kids computer, bulletin board and kids craft bin. You can also see the corner of our GA map.
Our USA map.
A look inside our workbox filing system.
I hope you enjoyed this post. I will continue to keep you posted on the start of our first homeschooling year.

And how did you know everything to get for your first year of homeschool? I need to get organized too. Thank you for sharing!

@Karen I have been spending at least a year reading blogs, forums, websites, books you name it. And I started gathering supplies months ago in preparation.

This looks great! I have next week set aside to do nothing but organize and finish putting together my planner and lesson plans. Thanks for the inspiration.

We are working on organizing this week too. The funny thing is I still need to make labels! LOL! I love the velcro attachments on your file folders - I never would have thought of that!

I love the USA map you have! Is it one of those "peel and stick" ones? Where did you get it? I've been looking for a map of the USA that is kid friendly!
