African Drums Using Recyclables

We are continuing to learn all about Africa and Lions and this week we made some African drums. They are super simple to make. Just take an empty container, we used oatmeal containers. Stick a few beans, rice, rocks, etc in the container to add a little more noise (because banging on the top is not enough, lol). Then glue the lid on. Next decorate until your hearts content. We used scrapbook paper, feathers and stickers. Then we glued a ribbon onto the top so the kids could wear it around their neck. Then watch some YouTube African dance videos or listen to some music and let the kids dance around and play music.

What a great way to bring their geography alive! My kids love to use drums for all sorts of stuff.
