A week in the life of homeschoolers - Week 26

Week 26:
Since we were plus two kids last week we didn't get much homeschool done. A dear friend was in the hospital having major surgery so we took care of her two kids (who are also homeschooled). The week was filled with lots of driving around to speech/OT appointments and visits to the hospital. But I still managed to sneak in a little bit of learning. Tuesday we had our Lego library club and the theme was Star Wars. All of the kids had a great time. Wednesday all of the kids sat down and did a couple of worksheets.  Friday Gwyn attempted to do her All About Money online class from Founders Academy on Friday but got distracted by her friends (thank goodness its recorded so we can go back and watch it later). And on Saturday Grandma and Grandpa came over to give Gwyn her birthday present...a new bike! I see lots of bike rides in our future. We also took the kids out to dinner at Panda Express to reward them for their great behavior and to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We used the coupons we received in our Chinese New Year package from Panda Express (see picture and info below). Gwyn has also continued working on her reading and has advanced onto books 5 and 6 in series 1 of Bob Books.

We hope to have our real button done soon!

Starting next Friday my friend Jen from Gricefully Homeschooling and I will be starting FreeBee Fridays with Kathy's Cluttered Mind and Gricefully Homeschooling.

This will be a weekly link-up where, you too, can share all the homeschool freebies you found or received in the past week.

Here are a few of the FreeBEEs to get you started:
-Math Freebies - worksheets, games and more
-Free Ebook from Money Town Kids - Why do we give?
-Harrys Big Adventure - Insect lessons
-Groundhog Day graphing
-Bats Live - webcast, lesson plans and more

1) Panda Express Chinese New Year Learn With Me Program (this is expired but if you remember check back for it next year it is a very neat program), 2) Natural Inquirer, 3) OSA Foundation Fiber Optics and Lasers, 4) Federal Reserve Publications (you can even order large quantities if you have a homeschool group you want to share with), 5) Truth About Drugs from Foundation for a Drug Free World (great for older kids),

And we received a copy of  Jake and Jasper to review. We should have this review up later this week.

Here is Jen's list of FreeBEEs.

So, be ready home school bloggers, we are hoping to get this launched by next Friday {if possible}. Get your posts of FreeBEEs ready...

Books and DVDs we checked out from the library:
Sadly we did not get our usual library run done. But we did score some FREE books and we picked up
Changes for Felicity which is the next book we will be reading for Gwyns American Girl Book Club.

The library was giving these advanced reading/uncorrected proofs away! Check with your library to see if this is something they offer.

New ideas have been added to my board. These are some of the things we are doing for our January units. Check out my other boards on Pinterest for ABC, 123, Art, etc ideas.

This is our January YouTube playlist keep checking back because I will be adding videos each week. It includes the various videos we will be using throughout January.

I hope you find these resources useful. If you ever have any questions feel free to leave me a comment or email me. Also be sure to follow my FB page where I post Freebie things daily.

Thanks for stopping by.

*Disclaimer - Many of the links found on my side bars and in my blog posts are affiliate links. As a result, I might get paid money and I will most likely spend the money on homeschool supplies.

Kathy - I think your children learned one of life's most valuable lessons last week - that of HELPING YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS! Your week was probably more productive than any "school" week could have been.

Have a great week!
