August 3 in 30 Challenge - Week 1
Week 1 of August was amazing and I feel I accomplished quite a bit. I will of course be continuing to work on my past goals.
1. Get our daily schedule/routine in place - The week went pretty good. The kids had their morning to do lists completed almost everyday before I went into their room to get them. We had breakfast finished by 8:00 am every morning. Chores were completed after breakfast. And school began around 9:00 am. And the new bedtime routine has been set in place. After fighting with the kids to go to bed at a decent time the last few months we decided to try something new this week (they share a room). First we staggered their bedtime, Rowyn at 7:30 pm and Gwyn at 8:30 pm. Well it didn't really work because Rowyn was still awake when we went to put Gwyn to bed. So then we decided to ditch nap time. Well ditching nap time and staggering bedtimes worked. Gwyn snuck in a few naps here and there but she is not really the problem child with bed time so it still worked out okay.
2. Start homschooling - Off to a great start keep an eye out for my "A week in the life of homeschoolers" post coming later today.
3. Learn better ways to discipline - The week went pretty good, but today is another story. I actually think the kids are getting nap time today so I can get some stuff done. We had a few time outs and a privilege taken away here and there but overall their behavior was very good. I also did a very good job of not yelling (past goal) and not using foul language (another past goal).
Any encouraging words are always appreciated!

Discipline....oh, sweet Mama...have you read any of Paul David Tripp's books? I really recommend reading his books...he teaches you to get to the heart...also, Homeschooling With a Meek and Quiet Spirit is good, as well. I fail often, but the beauty is my children seeing me ask for forgiveness of them...and our Heavenly Father! Hope to get together again soon!!!!!
@Rebecca No haven't heard of him. A friend gave me a book by a Tedd Tripp called Shepherding a Childs Heart which I have to start reading. We do need to get together!
